LifeStraws for Kenya 2011

The following email was received from Pastor Moses Muguro in Nairobi, Kenya.

Happy New Year  from Kenya-Africa. Today Lisa School and Holy Unity School children in Kibera received the water filters with great joy and excitement.  The kids were thrilled with these simple yet  easy to use filters.  While distributing the filters we took a long list of their names and ages, and those who missed this time round (Lisa has a population of 180 children while Holy Unity 370 children) we promised them that they will have their filters soon. We want to thank you and the Crossroads church community for these generous gifts to Africa’s children. Attached kindly find pictures of today’s event.

Blessings,
Moses

Soap for Kibera, Kenya

The following email was received from Pastor Moses Muguro in Nairobi, Kenya.

Want to thank everybody who gave $ 100 for Kibera ministry. Yesterday we gave anti-bacterial soaps to Kibera children, and also supported a family of five with foodstuff. The needs in Kibera has been great, but the Lord is always providing to His children. Attached kindly receive some pictures from Yesterday mission to Kibera.

Blessings,
Moses

Africa Trip 2010

The Crossroads’ mission team participated in a very packed, exciting, and challenging ten days of ministry in Kenya. Each morning we ministered in schools, orphanages and prisons, as well as regional crusades in the evenings. This all culminated in the “All Church Feast,” which was our final event on Saturday afternoon. It was a wonderful experience to see local churches plan and gather at the crusades each evening and then come together for the huge feast on Saturday. Our worship team, along with local groups, provided the music. Most events took place in the Nairobi slums, including the well-known Kibera slum. It was powerful to see people come and give their lives to the Lord each day.

The sights, smells, and incredible hardships the people of Kenya face each day moved us. We were very touched by the warmth and beauty of the Kenyan people. The people we met and the things we saw will remain etched in our hearts and minds for a long time.

Our time in Kenya is not over. We foresee future trips, but for now we see great opportunities where each of us can bring change today.

How can you become involved?

Operation Two Fish Five Loaves

Crossroads Community Church and Christian faith-based ministries have come together and identified ways to help meet social and economic needs in Kenya, impacting poor communities. Projects include strengthening and building unity between local churches, bringing clean water and food to the poorest of the poor, helping orphanages and schools meet practical needs, which include food and health initiatives, and helping raise up future church and community leaders through educational channels.
