Grasman Family PhotoDuane and Margaret Grasman - Mexico

Duane and Margaret have been serving in Mexico over 20 years, with most of their efforts being centered in Hermosillo and the surrounding villages.  It was a casual contact in an airport between the Grasmans and Pastor Bill and Betty Ritchie that led to our own church's extensive missionary outreaches in that area.

One year ago, Duane was asked to join Amistad Cristiana Church as missions director and has been bringing structure to their missions program on a local, national, and international level. Their son, Steve, is the youth pastor for the church.

For some time they have had a burden to reach a very needy neighborhood in the southern section of Hermosillo.  Just recently it resulted in the creation of a home church fellowship, that within a few weeks, has already outgrown the private home where they meet.  Duane and Margaret are seeing God reach entire families and bringing about significant change in New Hermosillo.

Steve and Karen Daley - East Mediterranean

Steve and Karen have two daughters, Annelise (11) and Karis (10), and live in Lancaster, South Carolina. They serve with Wycliffe in the East Mediterranean region, where they are team coordinators for an ongoing translation project.

The past year has been very productive as the translation team has drafted the last two-thirds of the Old Testament selections for an audio scripture series and is now beginning work on the New Testament selections.

Karen also helps with administrative tasks, such as conference planning and field training, while devoting herself to the children and their schooling.

Steve (Dr. Daley) has additional duties that draw upon his specialized background in Biblical languages, Greek and Hebrew:

Translation consulting - checking translations before publication,
Biblical research - writing reference materials for field translators,
Teaching Hebrew - training translators to work from the original texts.

Steve and Karen are committed to Wycliffe's Vision 2025. The goal is to start a Bible translation in every language needing one by the year 2025, and thereby help to reach the millions of people around the world that still have no scripture in their heart language.

The Burkes - South Asia

The Burkes and their daughter Kaylee (5) live in South Asia.  They lead a team with the focus of initiating church planting movements among middle class, high caste Hindus. They are currently training local believers to begin house fellowships.

They have been training a local believer named Shravan, for over a year and many have come to faith through this man's ministry.  They have seen God do miracles in the lives of many people.  Fifteen young Hindus have joined a house fellowship led by Shravan.  They meet weekly to disciple Shravan who is training six church planters.

The Burkes are working to open a Spoken English School to provide services and to facilitate relationships and their work in the local community.  The school will also provide a solid reason for their presence in the city where they live.

RubenRuben and Doris Muñoz - Hermosillo, Mexico

Over five years ago, Ruben and Doris started Calvary Chapel Antioqia in Hermosillo, Mexico.  Ruben has always been active in the Lord's work and was drawn to Calvary Chapel through the ministry of Crossroads Community Church in Hermosillo.

Hermosillo, a city of over 800,000 people, is the capital of the state of Sonora and a bustling city of commerce and industry.  Ruben's strong gift of teaching and a passion to reach the city for Christ have been the center of his ministry.  His church reaches out to the community through ministry to hospitals, orphanages, sports outreaches, and professional men's and women's gatherings.

Ruben and Doris have three children; Ruben Jr., Maresa, and Damaris.

Valencia Bio Photo_0325Roberto and Brenda Valencia - Kino Viejo, Mexico

Roberto and Brenda planted and now pastor Calvary Chapel in Kino Viejo, Mexico.  After giving his life to Christ, Roberto felt the call of God on his life and much of his growth in the Lord came under the mentorship of Crossroads' missionary, Duane Grasman.

Crossroads Community Church and the Valencias' path intersected in Kino.  For a long time, Pastor Bill Richie felt God's leading to start a work in Kino; God was laying the same burden on Roberto's and Brenda's hearts.  While serving as a pastor in another town, Roberto began teaching a Bible study on his day off in Kino.  As a result, today there is a thriving body of believers in "Templo Calvario."  The church and ministry of the Valencias is a beacon of light of God's love in the community.

Roberto and Brenda have four children; Glenda, Elisabeth, Josue, and Isaac.

David and Anna BonsellDavid and Anna Bonsell - Los Mochis, Mexico

God called David and Anna to leave their home and jobs in the United Sates in December 1989 to follow His calling to Alamos, Mexico.  Traveling to the various mountain villages in the states of Chihuahua, Sonora and Sinaloa, they provided teaching and discipling materials to local churches.

In 1997, they opened the Gospel Resource and Training Center where pastors and church leaders now come for teaching, audio materials, monthly meetings, counseling and ongoing training.  The distribution of teaching materials has expanded to other Latin American countries.

David and Anna partner with short term mission groups that come to the states of Sinaloa and Sonora, offering assistance in interpretation, transportation and knowledge of the local culture.

About

What is Missions?

From Genesis through Revelation, scripture presents the heartbeat of God—world missions. As fully devoted followers of Christ, missions isn’t just something we do, it is who we are… it is a lifestyle. At Crossroads, we build relationships by impacting people, serve others by committing our time, and transform lives by showing God’s love.

It is doing everyday acts to meet the needs of people around us and around the world. It isn’t a function of time, money or geography… it is simply being an everyday missionary offering of help and hope.

"The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, because He has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed..." - Luke 4:18

What Does This Mean to Me?

We believe that each one of us has the calling to be “mission-minded.” This means being open to opportunities to show Christ’s love to those you interact with in your daily life. This is literally just reaching out to people… seeing a need and meeting it. It can be an act of kindness, such as mowing an elderly person’s lawn. It can be babysitting for a single mom, so she can have a night off. It can be repairing someone’s home or car who wouldn’t otherwise be able to have it done. It can be more involved, but basically it is being an everyday missionary.
