Crossroads Cooperative Nursery

WELCOME TO CROSSROADS COOPERATIVE NURSERY!

We provide a safe, clean and comforting environment for you and your child. Our ministry is a Parent Cooperative to insure that our ratios of babies to adults are always at the highest standard of safety and comfort for the children.

As a parent of a Nursery child, we ask you to participate in the co-op by serving as a caregiver one Sunday or Thursday service per month.

SAFETY

· Our Nursery is locked at all times.

· We use a secure computerized check-in system.

· Every service has trained Team Leaders and Room Coordinators that oversee the care of all the children.

· Each volunteer is background checked.

· We provide age appropriate environments for infants(Sleepers,) crawlers (Creepers) and walkers (Leapers).

LOVING

· Your child is well cared for by a loving team of caregivers, parents and trained Nursery Leaders. We show God’s love to His babies through gentle words, comforting hugs and playful interaction with the children.

· We use a Parent Notification System that allows us to display your family’s badge number in the Sanctuary if for any reason they should need you.

COMFORTING

· Our rooms include quiet crib areas for sleeping babies as well as play areas for active babies.

· Special toys are chosen for the comfort and interest they provide.

· We provide Ritz crackers and diluted apple juice or water for your Creeper or Leaper.

· It is common for babies to cry immediately after parents leave, but they usually calm down. We will not let your baby cry for more than 10 minutes without informing you.

HEALTH CONSCIOUS

· All toys are disinfected after each use.

· Gloves are worn during diaper changes and hands are washed and changing pads disinfected after each changing.

To insure good health of all children, babies with colds, runny noses, fevers, rashes or other symptoms of contagious illness are not permitted into the Nursery. Exceptions are teething babies or children with allergies

Philosophy of Ministry

A comforting voice and a listening ear...

The Mom to Mom Ministry is one of encouragement, support, guidance and love for moms during their pregnancy and throughout the first months of their newborn’s life.

This ministry is designed to build friendships between experienced and spiritually mature mothers and newer mothers with the goal of coming alongside the newer mothers and helping them through the beginning stages of parenting and growing a family. The maturity, empathy and spirituality of the mentor moms can be a powerful source of strength to the moms who are being mentored.

Many new moms do not have their own mother nearby, or the relationship with their own mother is not conducive to encouraging and uplifting the new mom in the Lord. Sometimes, just having another Christian woman who will listen, understand and empower the new mom is just what she needs to get through the challenges of mothering a newborn child and managing a family.

Our ministry as mentor moms is to befriend, exhort, uplift and empower these newer moms to grow into the Godly women that the Lord has designed them to be.

Commitment Expectations

As a Mentor Mom you should be ready to…

· Make a one-year commitment to a relationship between you and a woman who is expecting a child.

· Once you have been assigned an expectant mom, contact her and plan a time to meet in person. After the initial meeting, contact your mom on a regular basis. Check with her to see how often is best for her (maybe once a week or every other week is good, allowing for her to contact you as needed.)

· Pray for your mom regularly. Forward expectant mom’s prayer requests to the Newborn Blessings Prayer Team Coordinator. Reassure your mom that you and the Prayer Team are continually upholding her in prayer.

· Visit your mom and baby after the baby is born. If possible, contact the Newborn Blessings Meal Coordinator and let her know that you can bring a meal to the family.

· Attend the Baby Dedication and join the family in the front of the church to pray over them.

· Attend Mom To Mom fun and informative events twice a year!

Newborn Blessings

Providing support to expectant parents through:

*Prayer –Your name will be given to the Prayer Team Coordinator for regular prayer. Please call or e-mail her with specific requests.
* Nursery Tours - We invite you to come in to see our facility and meet our dedicated and caring Nursery volunteers. Please call Karen at 360.567.4223 to schedule your tour.
* Meals - If you wish, we will deliver dinners for your family after your baby comes home.
* Mom to Mom Ministry - We can pair you up with a mentor mom who will provide support and encouragement during your pregnancy and as you begin to raise your new baby.
* Birth announcements - Your baby's birth will be announced in the church services on the last Sunday of each month. This will include a beautiful graphic of a birth announcement, along with a photo of your baby that you e-mail to us.
*Baby Dedication - Call Children’s Ministry to schedule a special time to dedicate your child to the Lord in the presence of our church body. Baby Dedications are also held during our Sunday morning services on the last Sunday of each month.
* "New to You" Closet: Our closet is filled with new or gently used baby clothing and many other baby items that have been donated by members of our Crossroads church body. Please let us know if you are in need of anything or if you would like to make a donation.

We are excited to have your child ages 0 through 5th grade join us in Kids Community on Sunday mornings at 9:00 AM or 11:15 AM! Our safe, nurturing environment provides kids a place where they can come and learn about their faith through Bible based lessons, music, small group time and activities that are key in building their faith foundation.

Welcome to Crossroads Kids!

We want every child who walks through our doors to come to know their God, their Jesus, their faith, their church family and their service to the Lord, His church and the community. We are excited to have your child ages 0 through 5th grade join us on Sunday mornings at 9:00 AM or 11:15 AM. Our safe, nurturing environment provides kids a place where they can come and learn about their faith through Bible based lessons, music, small group time and activities that are key in building their faith foundation. On Thursdays at 6:30 PM, kids enjoy family worship in the Sanctuary and then are dismissed into their own teaching time.
