This morning I couldn’t find my keys. Actually, yesterday I couldn’t find my keys and today I really needed the keys that could not be found. After about 30 minutes of looking, I gave up and went on my way to the church. On the way I was speaking with my wife on the phone and realized that I didn’t have my wallet. I went home perturbed to say the least – and a bit curious what they were going to find on the brain scan that I now believed I needed.
Today
"...But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called today...." (Hebrews 3:13)
I can't say how often my good intentions are overcome by the tyranny of the urgent. I know this, however, that simple reflection shows that its likely to be more than I'm comfortable to share. It's true that our God is the God of the past and the future, but He is Lord of our today's too. More than that, He is Lord of our "now." No matter your age, whether you're a parent or a student, grandparent or friend, there is a calling on your life and mine, to consider not only what God has for your tomorrow, the grace He's had on your past, but the calling on your "today."
