If you are having trouble using the stream, here are some common things to look for:
A) Do you have RealPlayer installed?
If not, you will likely get a message from your web browser asking you to save or run the file when you click on our streaming link.
- If you are running Windows, go here, and click on the "Get RealPlayer Free" button on the left.
Follow the instructions for downloading and installing the player. Be sure to register your copy so that it will work correctly.
- If you are running Mac OS X, go here and click on the "RealPlayer Free" button in the upper right.
Create a free account and then follow the instructions for downloading and installing the player.
After installing RealPlayer, try connecting to our stream again. If it works, great! If not, please continue below for additional steps.
B)Are you using a dial-up connection (ie. modem and a phone line)?
If so, you will need to use our audio-only stream listed above.
C)Is your broadband connection fast enough and reliable?
If you are not sure what speed your line is capable of, or suspect there may be issues, please run a speed test to see how it is performing.
You can do that here. Choose the server on the left that is closest geographically to your location.
It will run the test and give you the results. To reliably watch our stream at 300k, your download rate should at least be 350k. If is is lower than that,
you will not be able to watch our best looking stream. RealPlayer should automatically reduce down to the 150k stream we offer, should this be a problem.
If this does not seem to be where the problem lies (ie. you are getting significantly more than 350k of download bandwidth), please continue below.
D)Is RealPlayer working correctly?
You can test RealPlayer with these demo clips provided by Real:
- For a near 300k test stream, click here
- For a 150k test stream, click here
If you are unable to play either of these clips, and you are on a high-speed broadband connection, there may be a problem with your RealPlayer install or
configuration. Please go here for assistance. If you can play one or both of these streams just fine, but still
have problems watching our stream, please send an email using the at the bottom of this page.
If you have followed all of these steps completely and are still having issues, please don't hesitate to send us an email.
In your message, please include:
- If you have been able to successfully watch the stream on the same computer and Internet connection before
- Time/day you tried to watch the stream
- Windows or Mac OS computer
- Version of RealPlayer installed on your computer
- Your tested broadband connection speed, using the procedure listed under step (c).
Note: This really needs to be done at the time the issue occured so we get an accurate picture of the situation.
- Whether or not one or both of the Real demo clips in step (d) worked correctly.
We need all of this information to help diagnose the problem, so please be sure to include it. Email us at live@crossroadschurch.net
